Current Sustainability Achievements

Overseeing sustainability from the Facility perspective, Sakura Finetek Europe has been
incorporating sustainability over the past five years within the premises of the Central Office in
Alphen aan den Rijn. There is an opportunity in every decision we make, every day.

Think of improving processes, implementing new ideas or keeping track of the impact of our
actions. Whether it is choosing green suppliers or waste separation, all these steps, whether
small or big, will help Sakura in becoming an eco-CSR-friendly company.

Up to now, our department are proud to have implemented the 3R’s mindset, which are Reduce,
Reuse, Recycle. Beautiful things have come from this, such as reducing costs and benefiting the
environment. This practice covers the entire building, especially our restaurant.

In the following paragraphs we will lay out a few changes we have made so far to illustrate the
growth we have been through. We have categorised them considering the three-pillar
conception of sustainability: social, economic and environmental, also known as profit, people
               and planet.

               Environmental Impact
 Thermal Energy Storage installation (heat-cold storage).
The TES installation is an integrated system, which controls the office climate. Heat and cold
water are stored under the ground and are pumped around when needed. The system is known
for its efficient use of energy. This system results in lower energy costs and energy waste.

 Blinds open and close automatically; this prevents unnecessary heating (solar gain) during
summer and heat loss during winter.

 Our office consumes partial green energy; a large percentage of the lighting in and around
the building has been changed to LED lighting.

 Lightening sensors have been installed in the whole workspace occupancy; it minimizes
                       useless energy consumption.

 In March 2019, 168 solar panels were installed and generated approximately 36
megawatts in that year. E.g.: 36 megawatts are enough to power 10 houses. In the entire year of
2020, the output was 43,09 MWh. More than 22% of the power production compared to the previous
                       year.

 Charging stations for electric cars have been installed; it promotes employees to drive
                       electric vehicles.

 In the main building of the Central Office, sensor taps have been installed and also
switched to cold water for hand washing; this action saves water and energy.
