Facility Strategy and Goals -long term
With the Sustainable Facility project, we want to give to our company the possibility of
minimizing the impact on the environment by actions, such as save energy, increase
productivity, reduce waste and water conservation. Sustainable Facility will benefit and affect
every Sakura employee.
For this reason, in our long-term strategy plan, we gain visibility
into our sustainability performance to embrace the cause
completely and grow green together.
Awareness and Consensus
Scale a transparent and open dialogue about sustainable practices in the office. After we
focus on the Central Office, we will also be working on improvement in other workplaces
throughout Europe. It will be vital to set a purpose and count on the effort of every
department. Examples of possible actions are: Creating a solid communication plan; Sharing
knowledge and performance updates on the company employees’ page. Writing regular
inspirational posts to ignite interest and engage colleagues; Inspiring the Academy department
to join in the mission by creating an LMS course about sustainability.
Have a reliable system to track our performance with a detail-oriented database to
monitor our sustainability metrics. This will be essential for taking continuous action
where possible. We will have a solid base to manage our social, economic and
environmental performance, as well as understand opportunities to continuously
reduce impact over time.
Add an “Our Purpose” page to the website to share our achievements and a timeline of
sustainability action steps. Get colleagues on board to contribute information and data.
Write about topics such as resource conservation (water, energy, materials), waste reduction
(recycling), responsible procurement (ecologically responsible vendors), transportation (mass
transit and alternative commuting).
Environmental
Regional Business Units (RBU's) – create and implement sustainable work practices all
over Europe.
Carpooling - Create and stimulate carpooling habits. Incentivize to go for more green
options.
Incentivize video conferences to avoid employees traveling. Make all the options clear
and how-to manuals.
Incorporate circular economy in the business model. Example of possible actions are: Offer the
community used furniture we will not use anymore (open garage). Adopt official days to check into things
that can be reused/repurposed before purchasing any new item. Send furniture back for reuse (new IKEA’s
new circular option).
