She saw her aunts, one who was really not used to greeting people with smiles and the
other whose personality was as bright as the sun. Her parents left to greet the birthday girl who
wore a blue and black Marshallese dress. It was covered with different kinds of beautiful
Hawaiian designs. Reanna was full of joy like a kid who first receives a gift from a loved one.
Her favorite part was when some people performed their dance for the baby. She loved seeing
people dancing beautifully to the music. They would stay there for hours til the next day.
A kemem is a really important celebration for many family members and friends. This is a
way for both family members from both sides of the family to interact with each other.
