                                                                  By Martha Gonzalez

My name is Mr. Eagle. I’m a substitute for Lakeside Junior High

School. Here is a glimpse into my journey.

I lived in Florida for 15 years. During that time I met my girlfriend,

Troy. We fell in love and decided to get married. We would go to the

beach every morning and watch the dolphins. We would stay there for

hours and watch how they play and make noises, jumping up in the air and back to the water.

Sometimes we would go swimming before going to our favorite restaurant to eat. Even with all

these fabulous mornings, we really didn’t like Florida. We thought about moving to Springdale,

Arkansas, since we both had family there. It was a difficult decision to leave our ocean mornings,

but we knew it was better for both of us. When we moved, we already had a daughter, and I was

still in school. I graduated from Springdale High School in 1978 and attended college for two

years. After I ran out of money, I went into the military for eight years. While in the service I

was shot a few times, but I made a lot of money. The money made the pain better, but I made the

decision to leave the military to focus on my family. I was divorced and married during this time.

I remarried as both of my daughters got older.

Eventually, my daughters grew up and moved out of the house. Now they live in

Houston, Texas. Sometimes I take trips to go visit them. The past decade has been busy. I worked

in many dealerships. It was a great job and a wonderful experience, but it was just not for me. I

still had my teacher's diploma from my short time in college. I decided to come to Lakeside and

be a substitute teacher. I’m still here at Lakeside Junior High School as a substitute. I love

working with different students and teachers.
