Volunteers in Police Service – VIPS

During 2019, Elk Grove PD celebrated the 25 th year of
VIPS our volunteer program! The volunteer program began with

the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department when they
➢ In 2019, Elk Grove PD’s 43 were contracted to provide services to the city of Elk

This year, the VIPS provided 10 tours showing a “behind-
the-scene” view of the PD to various community members.
They presented 14 Elder Fraud Awareness classes and
distributed fraud-prevention flyers to senior housing
facilities, coffee shops, and fitness centers around Elk

Grove.
VIPS assist in nearly 30 divisions to include: records, traffic,

IT, POP, investigations, code enforcement, forensics, and
property & evidence.
Not only do our volunteers save the city thousands of
dollars – their service to the department is an intangible
asset to the community. The grand total in savings for the
last 25 years is an astounding… $5,183,404!
