Real Time Information Center - RTIC
The RTIC went live in August 2019 and
allows us the ability to go back after a
crime has occurred to view footage to aid
in investigations. The RTIC can also
provide responding officers with critical
real time information when a crime or
incident is occurring. It has already aided
in events as critical as the apprehension
of an out-of-County homicide suspect
driving through Elk Grove, to providing
intelligence to officers responding to
vehicles accidents helping the determine
whether their response should be
emergent or not. The RTIC allows us to
leverage technology to provide up-to-
date information to keep our first
responders and citizens safer.
UAS Program
The Elk Grove Police Department Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) program is a resource for
protecting the lives and property of Elk Grove citizens by providing aerial observation. We
currently have three pilots and utilize eleven drones. Some examples of UAS usage for public
safety and life preservation missions include; barricade situations, active shooters, apprehension
of armed and dangerous fleeing suspects, high-risk search warrants, investigative scenes, missing
persons incidents, search and rescue operations, disaster scene incidents, hazmat incidents,
suspected explosive devices, pursuant to a warrant (search or arrest), special events, outside
public agency assists, training missions, and mutual aid support. The UAS Program functions in
compliance with Federal Aviation Administration, EGPD policy, and US Constitutional guidelines.
