4.3 New trafc streams originating on KR
• Imported fertilizer trafc from Ratnagiri has taken shape during the year and is expected
to continue in future. The fertilizer trafc imported at Jaigad Port is loaded from Ratnagiri
station to various parts of the Maharashtra and Karnataka. During the year, 88 fertilizer
rakes (233512 Ton) are loaded from Ratnagiri fetching KRCL an originating earning of
` 34.65 Crore.
• The Petroleum Coke loading has been started from the newly commissioned MRPL
siding at Thokur. During the year, 24 rakes (90977 Ton) are loaded fetching KRCL an
originating earning of ` 16.88 Crore.
4.4 Overall Train Operation
KR is single line section of 738 kms having average block section of 13 kms. The section
capacity utilization is more than 100%. Despite granting total trafc block of 16001 hours
for maintenance and Railway Electrication works, 18315 coaching trains and 4408
freight trains were run along with maintaining punctuality of 81%.
4.5 Improvement in services
• On 26/01/2019, Computerized Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) was implemented at
all stations over KRCL to bring uniformity in ticketing system over IR and KRCL. As a one
step further, mobile ticketing system has been commissioned on 15/01/2020 at all
stations over Konkan Railway.
• During the year, the new siding of M/s. Mangalore Renery and Petrochemicals served
by Thokur Station has been commissioned on October-2019 for the trafc. The siding is
equipped with conveyor belts and loading silos for petroleum coke loading operations.
• The process for award of earning contract through IREPS tendering system has been
started rst time and total 42 tenders have been oated through IREPS during the year.
• Konkan Railway has constructed Food Court at Madgaon station to serve variety of
eatables to the passengers. i.e. Pizza & Berger, Chinese cuisine, South Indian cuisine,
Indian Chat, Sandwiches, Wraps, Coffee & Bakery items, Juices & Ice-creams etc. All
seven stalls of the Food Court have been allotted and are in the process of
commissioning.
• Complaint Management System i.e. Rail Madad has been implemented on KRCL on
15/07/2020. It is a one-point solution for railway commuters. 'Rail Madad' is an easy
solution to resolve passenger's complaints. Complaints are being monitored 24 X 7 on
Rail Madad portal and resolved on real time basis. The real time redressal has helped in
reduction of complaints on KRCL.
