INTER-HOUSE Parliamentary debate COMPETITION






                                                      The first edition of a British Parliamentary debate, The Interhouse
                                                      Parliamentary Debate competition differed from the
                                                      conventional Oxford style debate in the procedural flow, by
                                                      integrating the aspects of team work and extemporary rebuttal
                                                      into it. While the concept of the proposition and opposition to the
                                                      motion was kept intact, the participants were required to split the
                                                      postulates amongst a team of four, each with distinct roles to
                                                      play. All in all, it was a new-fangled form of a debate, and coupled
                                                      with the ethos of the online platform, it successfully honed the
                                                      critical thinking and analytical skills of all participants, despite
                                                      being apart.

     The Inter-house Public Speaking
     Competition, which took place on the

     10 of September, was a mesmerizing
     experience for all the students and
     teachers. The students were well
     prepared for the competition and spoke
     eloquently on the topics. They
     expressed themselves with confidence
     and the contents were well researched.
