Weather
If you are volunteering at an outdoor event, hopefully the weather will be
good but good and bad weather can cause issues:
• If it is sunny and hot be sure to wear a hat and sun screen
• Be sure to stay well hydrated – water will be available
• Keep an eye out for any members of the public who are
• looking hot and direct them to a water point if needed
If the weather is wet be aware of the risks of slips and falls
• Report any concerns to your team leader
Security
Your role as an Event Volunteer is to be alert and report concerns
to your Team Leader:
Things to look out for:
• Fire hazards
• Suspicious packages
• Suspicious or unusual behaviour
Personal safety:
• There will be areas to store your personal items - Do not
bring anything of high value with you
• Remember to bring your mobile phone to aid
communication and make sure it is fully charged
• Your role is to follow fire instructions and emergency
procedures and not put yourself or anyone else at risk
