Fire safety
Do not block any fire escapes or exits, keep them clear at
all times of equipment and belongings
In the event of a fire, lifts should not be used if you are
volunteering at an indoor event
Kept your area tidy, if you have some free time tidy the
area and dispose of litter
Ensure queues do not block fire escapes
Direct people to fire points in the event of an emergency
Know where fire extinguishers are kept, if appropriate
Always inform a member of staff and Team Leader of any
concerns
Manual handling
Your role is not moving or carrying things but occasionally things may
need moving
• Take time lifting or moving things
• Only carry thing over short distances
• Always lift by bending your legs not using your back
• Avoid lifting above your shoulders or below you knees
• Check there are no trip hazards or obstacles
• Be aware of your own limitations and those of others
• Remember – it is ok to say this is too heavy, I need
help!
