Preparing for

                allergy season and

                Common Ailments

                Service Wales

The Common Ailments Service in Wales is designed to help people with minor
illnesses by providing treatment and advice through community pharmacy. This
service covers 27 different conditions, including common complaints such as hay
fever and other allergic reactions, aiming to offer an alternative to GP referrals,
allowing patients to receive free NHS advice and treatment for these ailments.

Allergy season typically marks the busiest time for the Common Ailments
Service and one of the tricky parts of the season, is anticipating the spike and
being ready for it. Hay fever season can land realistically anytime between
February and April but it’s hard to forecast. You need to be prepared early on,
making sure staff are equipped for the influx of questions about customer
allergies and having the right ranges in place to fulfil customer requirements.
