CHAPTER II

                                                   BE GOING TO

               A. Definition of Be Going To
The expression “be going to” is used to talk about future plans, intentions, and
predictions that are based on present evidence. It shows that something is already
decided or arranged before the moment of speaking.
               B. Functions of Be Going To
                   1. Planned or Intended Actions
Used when the speaker has already decided to do something before speaking.
                       Example:
I am going to study abroad next year.
It means the decision to study abroad was made before speaking.
                   2. Predictions Based on Evidence
Used when there is something in the present that makes the future event seem
                       certain.
                       Example:
Look at those dark clouds. It is going to rain soon.
It means the evidence of dark clouds shows that rain will happen.
               C. Sentences Patterns (Formulas)
                    Sentences Form Formula Example
