2-105 Fractures – Handle carefully.
A. Do not move compound fractures and cause further injury.
B. Use cold pack to minimize swelling.
C. Do not tie bandage knots directly over a suspected fracture.
2-106 Dislocations – Do not treat.
A. Only a physician is qualified to treat these injuries.
B. Immobilize the dislocation in line with deformity and seek medical
attention.
2-107 Eye Injuries – Start treatment immediately.
A. Do not attempt to remove foreign objects from the eye.
B. Wash eye by pouring proper eye solution from the trauma kit or
eyewash station into the eye for 15 minutes.
C. If condition persists, take injured to the doctor.
2-108 Snake Bites - Start treatment immediately.
A. If possible, ID snake. Obtain medical assistance as soon as
possible.
B. Keep the patient calm. Have him/her lie down and keep quiet.
Exertion will increase the heart rate and speed circulation of the
venom. If possible, remove any jewelry, like rings or bracelets.
C. Treat the patient for shock.
D. Do not administer stimulants that could cause increase in heart
rate.
2-109 Heat Stress – Move victim to cool shaded area.
A. Cool victim down by using cool compresses or ice packs.
B. Have victim drink cold water.
C. Obtain immediate medical assistance for fainting, heat exhaustion
and heat stroke.
REPORTING OBLIGATIONS (2-200)
2-200 Report Every Incident Immediately.
Report every accident / incident immediately to your shift
supervisor no matter what the extent of the injury, amount of
damage or potential liability. Incidents include work related
injuries and illnesses, liability losses, property losses, “near-
misses”, electric arc flash or arc fault incidents and windshield
damage claim.
2-201 Report Injury Complications.
If an employee is injured and condition worsens after leaving
work, the supervisor must be contacted promptly before seeking
medical attention.
