THE STORY OF THE SEER OF PATMOS

                                             Stephen N. Haskell

“Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at
                                              hand” Revelation 22:10.

the Vandals. “In the spring of each year

               [between 461 and 467] they equipped a

formidable navy in the port of Carthage; and

Genseric himself, though in a very advanced

age, still commanded in person the most

               important expeditions.... The Vandals

repeatedly visited the coasts of Spain, Liguria,

               Tuscany, Campania, Lucania, Bruttium,

               Apulia, Calabria, Venetia, Dalmatia, Epirus,

Greece, and Sicily.... Their arms spread

desolation and terror, from the columns of

Hercules to the mouth of the Nile.” They took

with them horses, so that their terror spread

inland from the port at which the fleet landed

the savage warriors. So hidden were the

designs of Genseric that the Roman world

never knew where to look for the next attack.
