The Weekly Review is one of the most important elements of the journaling
8 for the following week. The best time to do it is at the end of the week, as you
process. It should only take 30 minutes to an hour including preparing your MAP
prepare for the next week so that you can incorporate your learning. Start by
reading all of your 8 goals to remind yourself on what you are seeking to achieve.
You then read through all the journal entries for the week and then journal on the
following:
Wins
Honour and celebrate your wins. Notice what is working for you. Sometimes we
are so busy focusing on what we have failed to do, we forget to acknowledge
those small wins. Success leaves clues to what works for you and your strengths.
You can use and build upon these in other areas where you struggle. So spend
time reviewing why you had success where you did however small. How can you
use these insights to set yourself up to win more? What rewards are appropriate to
celebrate your successes?
Struggles
What challenges or obstacles did you encounter? What did not happen or not
work out for you? What obstacles got in the way? How did you sabotage yourself?
WEEKLY Did you over promise to yourself and under deliver? Did you procrastinate? Look
for the triggers or circumstances that caused you to struggle. Were they things,
people or feelings? How can you prepare for them or eliminate their negative
REVIEW impact? How did your circumstances impact these? Are you being realistic in what
you are seeking to achieve? Can you rethink your small steps to give yourself a
quick win?
Lessons
Do not beat yourself up - just take the lessons onboard. Having looked at all your
journal entries and identified your successes and struggles – What are they telling
you? What are the lessons from your review so far? What must you do more of,
less of, stop doing or start doing? What or who have you got to turn down the dial
on and what or who have you got to turn up the dial on?
