A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

A Tree of Life Embodies Patience, Faith, Hope
and Perseverance

Spring is in the air! Warmer weather,
blooming flowers, and birds singing are
signs that Spring is near! Spring is one of my
favorite seasons because it symbolizes a new
beginning in the circle of life. It’s a time to
get out and enjoy warmer days, before we
welcome the unending heat of the Arizona
summer days.
“The world that we live in today
is driven by instant gratification.
It is easy to give up because we
don’t see results.”
My younger brother recently shared a story
about the Chinese Bamboo Tree. I had never
heard of the life of the Bamboo Tree, and it
was intriguing to me. The story hit home as
it associates with the journey of life. Like
any plant, the Chinese Bamboo Tree requires
regular nurturing, soil, water, and sunshine.
However, this tree is unlike most plants.
During the first year of the life of the tree,
you see no growth. The second year, once
again, no growth – there is not even a sprout!
The third year, the frustration continues to
build, your patience is running thin, and your
confidence has run low. If by this point you
decide to continue, year four brings nothing
different than the previous years. It is not
until year five where you see the miracle. The
