“It’s easier than some of the conventional knots used for a tarpon
leader. I’ve tied it more than a Huffnagle, and it’s quicker than a Bimini
Twist, so I’m pretty pragmatic and this is quick and easy. It also helps

your fly track straighter and helps the leader turn over when you cast.
The knot makes a very accurate presentation.”

               Here’s a bonus tip
When you need to tie the braided fishing line to a fluorocarbon or
monofilament leader, Terry recommends using back-to-back Uni-Knots. “I

do a lot of spin-fishing with light, finesse lures. That’s something we do
here in the Indian River Lagoon (in Florida). We use really light braid, like
eight-pound, and light or medium-action spinners. If you tie the Uni-Knots
right, the knots are pretty slim. I double the braid over with a Spider Hitch,
and then I tie a back-to-back Uni with the braid and the leader. The trick
is to not use any more than three turns on each side and to make sure

they cinch down tight on both ends. They should look like two beer kegs
standing on top of each other, perfectly, once you’re done tying them.
This doubles the abrasion resistance of your braided line, too. I’ve pulled
some snook from places I never thought I’d get them out of, using this
               knot setup.”
