Daejeon Theological University began in 1954 as
 Korean Baptist Theological University
‘Daejeon Night Seminary’. At that time, church
 Seminary is an evangelical theological
leaders were insufficient, so the night seminary
 university of the Korea Baptist
was established. Pastor Lee Ja-ik was inaugurated
 Convention with a 70-year history
as the first principal, and he served as a general
 and tradition.
secretary of General Assembly three times in
the history of Korean Presbyterianism. Pastor Lee Ja-ik was born in
The Entrance of Baptist Theological University Namhae, Gyeongsangnam-do, and couldn't stand poverty, so he moved
 Seminary
to Gimje, Jeollabuk-do, and became a coachman of Jo Deok-sam.
Even though He was Jo Deok-sam's coachman, he became the
church elder before his master. Even after becoming the second elder
of Geumsan Church, Jo Deok-sam treated Lee Ja-ik very kindly and
supported him to study theology. When Lee Ja-
ik became a pastor, Jo Deok-sam asked him to
be a senior pastor of Geumsan Church, so they
showed a beautiful relationship between a pastor
and an elder. Daejeon Theological University is a
school where this kind of spirit flows.

“In 1954, Pastor Lee Ja-ik and Pastor Baek Nak-bong opened
 Korean Baptist
Theological Daejeon Night Seminary in Daejeon Metropolitan City.”
