When writing a story:
start by introducing the scene
use past tenses to describe the events
use sequence words
use linking words to connect ideas
write a good ending.

Plan

Part 1
Say when the events happened and introduce the characters and the situation.

Part 2
Describe the background to the events.

While they were shopping, they met an old friend.
