Although it is clear from the previous source that one may travel on Sukkot even if one will not have access to a sukkah, this
may be true only when one is traveling for an important purpose, such as business. Is it permitted to go traveling or on a
tiyul simply for enjoyment if one will not have access to a sukkah, and one wishes to eat a full meal? A number of poskim,
such as Rav Moshe Feinstein and Rav Ovadia Yosef, address this question.

Responsa Igrot Moshe, Orach Chaim 3:93
Is it permitted to go for pleasure to a place where there will not be a sukkah?
Regarding going on a pleasure trip to a place where there is no sukkah, it is logical in my opinion that it is
forbidden, for the travelers mentioned in Masechet Sukkah 26a, which refers to people who are going for a non-
mitzvah purposes who are exempt during the day, are still people travelling for business purposes and the like,
which is a real need and applicable to all people, for in such circumstances anyone would leave their house as
well. Therefore, it is permitted to leave the sukkah. But for a tiyul or pleasure trip, where there is no true need,
it is not considered a legitimate reason, since this would not be leaving his house for a necessary reason either.
Now consider yourself, a person who would often sleep in his backyard under the stars, as he enjoys it more than
his house, would this exempt him from the sukkah since he left his house for this reason? If this is really true,
why did Rava state that a mitztaer is exempt from sukkah; he should have stated that one who enjoys sitting in
the courtyard more than his house and sukkah is exempt!
Rav Ovadia Yosef also holds that those going on trips during Chol Hamoed are not permitted to have a fixed
meal outside the sukkah.
