Project: Laboratory Renovations
Chemistry 1973 Wing
Client: University of Pennsylvania
Project Area: 2,200 s.f.
Completion: Spring 2021
The Chemistry 1973 Wing is part of the Chemistry
Complex at the University of Pennsylvania. It is
located at the corner of 34th and Spruce Streets.
The building has been renovated incrementally
since its construction in 1973.
This renovation was designed to support the
research of a new faculty member and an Emeritus
faculty member. The new faculty member’s
laboratory is designed to support their work at the
intersection of inorganic chemistry, biochemistry,
and microbiology. The laboratory consists of a
large space with (6) fume hoods, island benches,
and a Mass Spec area. A specialty equipment
room with a bio-safety cabinet and anaerobic
chamber is also included, with a student work
room nearby.
Renovations were designed to meet the
University of Pennsylvania’s Green Guidelines
for Renovations.
