Incyte
Research and
Development
Facility
WILMINGTON, DELAWARE
Incyte Corporation is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery,
development and commercialization of proprietary small molecule drugs for
oncology and inflammation.
Incyte had outgrown their current research and development facilities and
determined they wanted to relocate to a new facility. The goal of the project was to
create an environment that will foster collaboration between all stakeholders.
DEDC worked with the construction manager using a “design/build” delivery
method for this project. DEDC provided mechanical and electrical engineering and
design services for the project.
The project created approximately 150,000 square foot of new laboratory, vivarium
and office/collaborative space for Incyte. The new space is Incyte’s primary
research and development facility. The laboratory spaces include chemistry as well
as biology laboratories.
This $35,000,000 project required all new mechanical and electrical building
infrastructures to meet the needs of Incyte’s program. The mechanical and
electrical infrastructure upgrades included installation of a new electrical
substation, backup power systems, and electrical distribution equipment, new
chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, boiler, exhaust fans and associated
mechanical and electrical systems suitable to support the project.
The design incorporated sustainable principals and utilized the latest in laboratory
mechanical and electrical systems technology.
