DEDC has been an “Alliance” provider of engineering and design services to E. I.
DuPont de Nemours, Inc. in this region for over 40 years. Many of DuPont’s
facilities are for research and development. One of the DuPont facilities DEDC

A recently completed project of note is the relocation of the Haskell Laboratory for
Health and Environmental Sciences. This project relocated the functions and
                                               personnel from an existing older building complex to an existing vacant building;
Building S320. The goal of the program was to create a vivarium, laboratory and
support spaces for collaborative research with teams of scientists with varying
expertise forming interdisciplinary research units in a modern space.

This 75,000 square foot renovation created new research and development spaces
to accommodate the program. The renovations created wet chemistry and
toxicology laboratories, tissue culture laboratories and animal science facilities and
support spaces. Many of the labs were equipment intensive and required as much
bench space as possible. Other laboratories required significant space for fume
                                               hoods and ventilated enclosures.

The project required significant modifications and upgrades to the building
mechanical and electrical infrastructure including the HVAC systems, service
piping and plumbing systems and power distribution and lighting systems.

DEDC was selected as the lead design firm for the project. We were responsible
for leading the design team as well as completing all mechanical, electrical and
structural engineering and design for the project.
