SCOPE OF ENGINEERING SERVICES
DCI+MacINTOSH ’s proposed scope of structural engineering services is described below.
Items not specifically identified in this proposal are outside of DCI+MacINTOSH’s scope.
1. PRIMARY STRUCTURAL SERVICES | DCI+MacINTOSH will provide structural
engineering design services for the Primary Structural Frame, defined as the primary
loadbearing components of the building, such as foundations, basement walls,
columns, floor and roof framing, and lateral systems to resist wind and seismic forces.
As part of Basic Services, DCI+MacINTOSH will:
a. Perform structural analysis and design to prepare structural Construction
Documents, including plans, sections, and details.
b. Coordinate with the permitting jurisdiction to help obtain a building permit.
c. Provide structural specifications.
d. Attend up to three (3) in-person Design Development Phase and four (4) in-person
Construction Documents Phase design meetings to coordinate with the other
members of the design team. We have assumed in-person meetings will be held in
your office.
e. Provide support and document clarifications during the bidding process.
f. During the bidding and negotiation process, we will respond to questions from
general contractors and bidders to verify uniform knowledge and understanding of
the Construction Documents. It is assumed the bid review process will be
coordinated by the architectural team.
g. Provide special inspection requirements in coordination with the contractor and
special inspection agency.
h. Provide Construction Administration. This phase of the project includes the
following scope of work.
Review submittals including shop drawings and documents from fabricators,
subcontractors, and bidder-designed elements.
Respond to a reasonable number of requests for information (RFIs) and provide
Structural Sketches (SSKs) for clarification of design intent.
Provide (6) site visits as part of the construction administration phase.
Structural observation site visits are intended as limited visual observations of
structural components for general conformance to the approved Construction
Documents prepared by DCI+MacINTOSH.
Review of the materials testing, and inspection reports provided by the materials
testing and inspection company.
