Learning Outcomes, Assessment Criteria, Challenges and
Assessments

In order to pass these qualifications, any candidate must address the required
learning outcomes (LO’s) for each relevant unit. This means demonstrating the
required understanding of each of the assessment criteria (AC) contained in each
LO. An IDG programme is based on the idea of ‘stretch & challenge’, whereby we
ask you to show not only that you understand the requirements, but also that you
can stretch beyond the bare minimum to fulfil each challenge we set for you. In
this way, you will apply the understanding to your context and will embed the
understanding in your daily practice as a leader. We asses this by asking you to
undertake a range of tasks designed to meet different learning styles and develop
a wide range of capabilities.

Command Verbs

Every AC contains command verbs (Identify, Discuss, Analyse, Critically Evaluate
and so on).These indicate the nature and depth of response required and this can
vary significantly from one criterion to another.
