Celebrating Eco-Schools Wales
Current Eco-Schools awards
306 schools have achieved their Bronze or Silver Eco-Schools award and are
well on their way to becoming thriving Green Flag schools.
An incredible 812 state schools in Wales have been awarded Green Flags, a
reflection of the commitment of Wales’ young people and their teachers to
looking after each other, our communities and our environment.
Not sure how the awards work? Here’s a reminder:
The Bronze Award is a self-assessed milestone that involves setting up the
Eco-Schools process, ensuring that a school is fully prepared to address
their planned eco work.
Next, the Silver Award, which expands upon the foundation established
during the Bronze Award. At this stage, the work undertaken should
demonstrate clear progress towards attaining the Green Flag.
The Green Flag is awarded to schools following an assessment from an
Education Officer, who will visit the school and see if the criteria for an
award have been met. Click here to find out more.
When a school has demonstrated their ongoing commitment to
environmental care and education by achieving a Green Flag for three
consecutive cycles, they can progress onto the esteemed Platinum Award.
