Ysgol Borthyn: Upcycling
Workshop
The Eco-Senedd at Ysgol Borthyn,
Denbighshire, held an upcycling shop
for science and engineering week.
Each class, from Reception to Year
6, was assigned a different material
which they would use to make new
upcycled products.
The items were then sold to other
pupils in the school to make some
profit to upgrade the outdoor
area and to make our school more
environmentally friendly.
“We wanted everyone to understand the importance of reusing and
recycling, keeping our planet safe, to learn new skills and how to design and
make new best-selling products. The most popular products were friendship
bracelets, key holders, book monsters and animal pots.
“The upcycling shop was a huge success, as we managed to raise £63 for Eco
Council to spend on plants for the outdoor areas around the school. We also
managed to upcycle 12 bags of rubbish.”
