SPOTLIGHT LORAM UK
Loram UK Attends Middle East Rail Show (MER)
By: Jim Reid, Key Account Manager-OTM, Loram UK Ltd.
We have just returned from a very worthwhile trip to the United Arab Emirates, capital city, Abu Dhabi, having at-
tended the Middle East Rail show (MER).
The team were representing Loram at the largest rail event in the Middle East and North Africa, which was a fantastic
opportunity to showcase Loram’s world leading equipment and expertise to not only the host nation and specifically
Etihad Rail, but to ministers and directors for the leading transport operators across the region. With so many key
stakeholders in attendance, interest, and visitors to our stand (F60) was constant over the 2 days.
The stand itself highlighted the rail grinding equipment Loram has to offer, especially highlighting the grinder already
working on Etihad Rail at this time.
We also had a large tv screen, constantly on a loop, which was showing our other technologies, involving ballast, ma-
terials handling, inspection, and friction management, to name but a few. A4 double sided handouts were available for
all the products and proved to be very popular with visitors to the stand and enabled further discussions on the
products we have, as well as showcasing the build, quality, and effectiveness of the Loram equipment against other
manufacturers.
The key benefits of this show are the ability to discuss and network directly with the stakeholders, one case to men-
tion was with Dean McGonigal, Head of Permanent Way at Etihad Rail: Dean was full of praise for the team from
Loram UK who are working in 40+ degree heat to ensure RGS8 runs and performs on time every time.
Another was with Jafar Oklah, Infrastructure Director at Etihad Rail, who again was very pleased with RGS8 and the
team and was looking forward to working closely with Loram.
I could go on, there were meetings with Sabatco, Orascom, Linsinger, Egis and the Minister for Transport from Ku-
wait.
