Jeffrey Stegall, Maintenance
Superintendent RG418
When did you join Loram and can you tell us a little history of your
time with Loram?
I started working with Loram June 10, 2013 as a general laborer on RG403. I
have been working with Loram for a little over 7 1/2 years now. I moved up
from a general labor to a machine operator-1 and then I was promoted to field
clerk. I was a field clerk for 3 years when I was promoted to an assistant super-
intendent February 17, 2019. On October 11, 2019 I was promoted to mainte-
nance superintendent where I am currently working in the southwest region of
the USA on RG418. Over the years working with Loram, I have seen many great
changes to this organization.
What is your favorite task on the machine?
Preventive maintenance is my favorite tasks on the machine. My favorite part of
doing preventive maintenance is knowing that we are trying to prevent parts failing while we are on the main and
keeping the machine working and moving.
What is your favorite memory from this past year while working?
I don’t know if I have any favorite memory from this past year. Overall, it’s been a great year getting it done despite
working through a pandemic.
Do you have any hobbies or hidden talents?
Some of my favorite pastimes when on time off are going to the range, riding ATV and going fishing.
What is your favorite thing to do when you have a day off? On days off I like to relax in bed and watch movies.
I enjoy a good western, action movie or crime show. If I’m close to a park I like to go for walks.
What is your favorite way to spend your time off when your home?
My favorite thing to do when I am on my time off is go see family.
Where is your hometown? What is your favorite thing about your hometown?
I am originally from Huntsville, MO but I moved to Columbia, MO about four years ago. Best thing about living in Co-
lumbia is there are a lots trails nearby and vineyards. I enjoy taking walks on the trails and visiting the vineyards.
What is something about yourself that would surprise your co-workers? I like visiting vineyards. My favorite
winery in Columbia is Les Bourgeois Winery.
What is the best advice you were ever given and who was it from?
The best advice I received was from Sam Madsen, Manager Rail Grinding. The advice was “Stop being too soft and
grow a backbone”. That has stuck with me since and made me stronger as a person.
What advice would you give a new Field Operations employee?
Be willing to learn, show initiative, and ask questions.
What skill would you like to master?
As far as a skill that I would like to master at Loram, it would be working
on electrical systems. I feel like I haven’t mastered any skill so far because I
am constantly learning. There is always something new to learn on these
machines.
What is your favorite holiday to celebrate?
Christmas is my favorite holiday to celebrate. It’s about the only time out
of the year when all my family is around and together. With my family we
celebrate Christmas with a big dinner, and we all pitch in to help make the
dinner.
