Large scale utility PV systems or plants are
designed to supply power to the electricity
grid. These plants require large land areas,
for example a 1MW solar farm,
approximately five (5) acres of land is

4. Building Integrated Photovoltaic Systems
(BIPV)
BIPV systems integrate photovoltaic modules
into the building envelope such as the roof,
windows, and the façade. These systems
provide savings in electricity costs and
materials because it provides daylight lighting,

noise and weather protection and thermal installation. These systems are normally
connected to the utility grid, but it can also be used in off-grid standalone systems.
