Solar PV Applications

The most common applications for Solar PV systems are:

1. Pico PV system or solar home systems
Pico PV systems are small systems that

are installed on homes. They are stand-

alone systems with battery storage and

are commonly used in remote or isolated

areas where there is no utility grid.

2. Rooftop solar PV systems

These systems are used for residential

homes and businesses and are mounted or

attached on the roof of buildings. Roof top

solar PV systems normally provide
electricity to the home or business.

connected or off grid. Where the system is off grid, the electricity produced is used by the
home or business. For grid connected systems, the excess electricity goes into the electric

grid.
