Tyranny of Sheikh of Bahrain and family over
Bahrain subjects.
Sir,
In continuation of my telegram No. 107, dated 15th January
on the subject of the tyranny of the Sheikh of Bahrain and hi3
family, I have the honour to state, for the information of tho
Gevemment of India, that tho Political Agont reports that the
Sheikh of Bahrain, apparently egged on by Sheikh Jabir bin Subah
brother of the notorious Sheikh liamud, recently made an attempt to
trump up a case against Ilaji Ali one of tho mombers of the
deputation who complained to me on December 21st,
The report goos into considerable detail, and i do not think
it will be necessary to trouble the Government of India with it;
it appears that some words were inserted in a letter sent by Raji
Ali to the headman of his village, with a view to putting
/ALi in the wrong and trying to drag in Khan Bahadur luohammed
Sharif the head of the Persian Community. The Bahrain subjocts
were seriously alarmed and many of them came to .tho Agency to ask
what tho result of their former petition wus, and to ask for
protection. The Political Agent by judicious handling of Sheikh
Salman, who is tho son of Sheikh Hamad the heir apparent and
now acting for his father, got the latter to prove to -Shaikh Isa
that the whole matter was trurapfci up, and to put tho Sheikh off
