Some time ago we approached the Political Be si dent and you; both
verbally and in writing; we informed you of our state. Wo also sent a
petition to Bushire to II. A. the Political Bosident. Wo havo not yet
heard any result, which will pacify our apprehensions and the
oppression and tyranny of the Bulers increases. AL though the whole
family of al Khalifoh oppressions, yet they are not all alike. Before
affairs wore in the hands of Sheikh Abdulla, oppression was rife, but
when he camo to conduct affairs officially, tyranny was practised to
such an extent that matters affecting our honour were not safe
(implies that woraenkind were not safe) and he even took girls from
their houses by forces and her father and mother, from fear could

not speak.
Now Sheikh Abdulla is officially not conducting* affairs, but
behind the scenes he continues with his former power, and more and
does not relax his efforts, 'The reason for this is that Sheikh Asa
his father, and his mother like him and assist him in what he wants
to do, and Sheikh Asa is to-day no more than a ring* on Abdulla's
finger. He helps him in whatever he wants. V/o beg Y • ^ • to deliver
us from the tyranny of Sieikh Abdulla and other opression. ile beg
you in the name of the projphet 'Jesus to deliver us us soon as

possible from the hands of this tyrant. We have no more patience to
endure. You are responsible to Ood, for our welfare.
