the rest is divided Into 100 shares of Rials 30,000/- each. This
is a weaving and spinning factory for woollen cloth. There ere 150
weavers who work in the day time only. Daily output is 6e.id to he 35
bundles of 10 lbs each (yarn woollen) and 225 yards (wool) of cloth.
It is fitted with (1) motor 300 H.P. (220 K. wta.) »SSW,
5IEMENS-SCIIUCKKRT, M .A • N* , (2) motor 25 H.P. (220 K.Wta.) both
German manufacture, (M.W.IJ.BENZ); type F.W.440/6/16.
It also has 15 weaving looms and 5 spinning of various
makes - Swiss, German and English.
(3) Iqbal Mill.
Established in 1935; capital Rials 7,650,000/-
shares 490.
It is a cotton spinning factory with daily output of
about 3500 lbs of yarn. Over 400 people work in this factory on
two shifts and the labourers are fed by the factory authorities. !
There sre three motor engines, all of German make s-
(a) BENZ 450 H.Pi
(b) KRUPP 250 H*P.
(c) DETUZ 250 H.P.
and twenty British make looms (Platt Bros. Oldham, England).
(4) Shirkat-l-Sahami - Kashbaf-i-Yezd.
A very small factory established in 1928. Formerly
it was the sole property of Eaji Abul Qasim Gorgi, but since 1941
it has become the joint property of five other merchants also.
Stockings, socks and underwear are the only products of this f
factory. Its employees are about 2 dozen people.
(5) Shirkat-l-Kashbaf.
This is the sole property of Agha Moha Ibrahim Gorgi,
who brought the machine with him from Berlin a few years ago.
About a dozen people work in this factory and stockings, socks and
underwear are its only products.
VI. MILITARY.
There is no regular army in this district, and a force of 1/3
Gendarmes under the command of Sargurd Abdur Rahman purzand performs
the duties of constabulary.
During the year it was at one time found necessary to bring
in about 180 conscripts from Kerman to reinforce the Yezd garrison
in view of the growing threat to public security.
Conscription continued throughout the year and between 3-4
thousand conscripts were collected and sent to Kerman.
Internal Security.
On the 6th April a lorry carrying piece goods and tea from
Shirax was attacked and looted by an armed gang in the neighbour
hood of Qila Khan-i-Surkh.
A party of Gendarmes was sent to capture KUCHEK ALI , a
notorious Outlaw. Sarvan Shajaia succeeded in capturing the father
of Kuchek All with seven of his men and eight rifles.
On the 1st June an armed gang of Farais (believed to be
Baorla) carried away a flock of 1500 sheep from the vicinity of
Tang-i-Chinar in Koh-i-Zaru rangq.
On the 10th June a lorry carrying opium, ghee and some
Government money and escorted by 4 Gendarmes and two conscripts was
