        1. Agency letter No'.C, A- 457 of 28th December, i exchanged by
           1949, to P.D.(Q) Ltd., Bahrain.             I

        2. P.D.(Q) Ltd. letter No.QSA 2/6896 of 31st i
           December, 1949, to the Political Agent. r i Lermitte. It
           would appear from his letter thot the Company intend to pay
           the first royalty at the end of this month.
           2.     I have nothing on record of your approval to the
           paying of royalties "at more frequent intervals during the

           year 1950"} and I should bo glad to hoar whether you did
           4n fact sanction any such arrangement.    The main point,
           you will agree,as in tho case of the advance of four lakhs, '
           i3 that any reference to these matters whatsoever bet.v/een
           the Shaikh and the Company should be dealt with from either

           side through us. x We should also I think (though it muy not
           be entirely our business to do so) insist that Article 20                      !
           of the Concession bo observed, i.e., all tho sums due to

           the Shaikh will be paid by the Company into the Shaikh's                       ;
           account_in tho Eastern Bank Limited In Bahrain,     This would
           give us more control than if the sums due were paid in cash
           in Qatar.
