Bahrain Internal Situation,
On the morning of Thursday, March 19 a domoxiotrntion lasting
about 1$ hours started when about 100 students left their school
classes at the socondai'y school and proceeded from school to
school on the Northenotorn quarter of Manama. About 400 to 300
students finally returned to the secondary school where after a
short bout uf oratory they dispersed quietly. Demonstrations
v/crc pro-Nasser and antl-Qassem; Bahrain and U.A.R. flays and
portraits of Nasser and Shaikh Isa, Heir Apparent, were carried.
They were closely accompanied by police and whilst indulging in the
usual shouting caused relatively little interference with towns
folk and passers-by who displayed little interest. No damage
caused. In the ovening n small procession started and dispersed
itself without official action.
2. On Friday morning a group of 90 to 60, rising to about 300
youths carrying banners milled around the centre of Manama. In
addition to banners and slogans they carried a bier representing
the dead in Mosul. No interference to community life. There
was a furtlier small demonstration about mid-day. All relatively
orderly..
3. On Friday afternoon about 300 to 330 school boys milled
around in Muharrnq for about three hours and at 10 p.m. there was
a further demonstration by about 100 boys lasting about half an
hour.
4. This morning, Saturday, March 21, a number of school boys
from the North Muharrnq Primary school (about 700 remained in
school) have been trying to interfere with attendance at other
Muharrnq schools and collected about 200 boys - ten arrests
have been made.
3. No signs so far that demonstrations have gone beyond school
children.
