Nussoiu Muhomod, Arab, aged 25: stmos on solomn affirmation :
I romomber tho occasion of the disturbance ; it was 5 or 0 days from tlio
beginning of Ramznn. I am a butcher and lrivn a shop iu tho moat hnznnr.
I went to tho Hnlwa shops, but had not bought anything. I saw a crowd
quarrolling uoar tho shop of Muallim. Thero were 7 or 8 porsons. When X
just saw thorn, ouoli man had his string of bends in his hands, Thoy were 6nying
prayers over them and saying, "Subhan Allah, Subban - Allah." Thoy then
began to quarrel. 1 lookod on. I saw a servant of Abdu Nobi’s, a boy with a
blind eye, standing thero. Anotbor boy, an Arab, passed him and gavoa pull at
his ooat. Abdu Nnbi’s servant turned round and hit tho other boy with his fist
in tho nook. They thoroupon closod upon one anotbor. 1 Upon this tho servants
of Kal Awaz (fathor of Abdu Nabi) came out.
Tho sorvuut Qhulum (of Abdu Nabi) tried to stop tlio two boys, but the
othor sorvant bit the Arab boy, who bud pulled tho blind youth’s coat with a
stick. Tho Arab youth fell down. They woro separated by othor Arabs who
had by now collected. At this time Abdu Nabi was standing • near Muallim’s
nhop. Abdu Nabi bad a mason with him, whoso narao I do not know, a
Persian. Abdu Nabi cried out •“ 13ozan ” to the blind boy and to tho mason.
Thoy went on ahead of Abdu Nabi, oalliDg out " 13ezan, Beznn” striko,
strike; and auyono they met thoy beat, Thoy had in thoir hands thick oanos
trom Bombay. Tho blind boy, whoa ho Grst quarrollod with tho Arab boy,
had a thin stick in his hand, but afterwards used biggor sticks wbioli they
•fotebed from tlio houso of Abdu Nabi, about 400 yards away.
I now say I don’t know whotbor Abdu Nabi was in his houso or in tho
Amara or elsewhere. After the two boys woro separatod, Abdu Nobi’s ono*
oyed boy went away and came back with Abdu Nabi aud about 10 labourers
(masons). They all bad sticks. Thoy began to boat Arabs and anybody they
saw in tho bazaar. I went to my houso. I got accidentally touchod by ono
