Vlolt of Shaikh Ioq bln Salman A1 Khlll'driMY|J)C0
Shaikh lea bin Salman A1 Khalifah, oldoot oon of
tho Rulor of Bahrain, io at present undergoing rehabilitation
therapy at a hospital in Bath. It io oxpocted, though
it is not certain, that ho will move to London, hio treatment
completed, on May 26, and that ho will stay at tho
\
Dorchester for two wooko or more.
\\
2. Shaikh Iaa, who ia twenty-seven, woo recognised by
hiB father as Heir Apparent in 1957. He paid an official
visit to the United Kingdom ao tho guest of Her Majesty's
Government in 1950, and was received by The Queen and by
the Secretary of State, who presided over a luncheon for
him.
3. It would therefore seem desirable on thio occasion,
although the Shaikh's visit io a private one, to offer
I
him some official entertainment. I recommend that wo should
ask Government Hospitality to arrange an official luncheon
for him with about twelve guests. I do not think it is
necoosary that t]ie Secretary of State should again preside
Si
over the luncheon; perhaps, in the absence of Mr.Profumo,
a Parliamentary Under-Secretary would agree to do so.
h. I submit a draft letter to Brigadier Macnab accordingly.
The date could be arranged in Shaikh Isa arrives in
London.
