Bahrain Petroleum Company’s head office in U,S,A,
have gone hack on proposals contained in my telno. 157 and
have instructed their representatives here to write to

the Ruler subject to our' concurrence letter which contains
the following passage
"Under the terms of its concession the company
is not to pay any tax or import duty on oil imported
into Bahrain, hut because of your need for more revenue

and in the light of otfyor recent developments, the
company will voluntarily and iranediately begin to
pay to Your Highness beginning June 1st 1951 subject
to future developments the monthly sum of Rs. 500,000."
No mention is being made of the three items described in
paragraph 1 of my telegram which the company proposed to
