Translated purport of a Idler from Aiiiikd Annuu Iluaoor., News-writer, Bahrein, to HcnI-
dont, Persian Gulf, No. 120, dated 24lh August 187-1.
• I learn that tho bunyabs who ard: in Biddah wroto to the bunyabs in
Bahrom that-after-tho departure of the May Frere from Biddah, Jassem
bin Mahomod bin Sanco Bont a man imeompany with ouo of tho Turks and
told tho bunyabs that tlioir residing in Biddali gavo liiiu no benefit, but that
they communicated tho uowa of tho placo to all countries.
Tho bunyalia replied, very good, but they had claims in Biddah from Biii
Sam’s ryots, and that if they were paid their claims, they would leave.
Mahomed bm Sanco heard of Mini circumstance; and told tho bunyabs
not to givo hcod to any of theso expressions and to bo employed in their work,
and lie was dissatisfied with his son for his proceedings.
Tho bunyabs of Bahrein say that tho object of Jassem in thus speaking to
tho bunyabs is to get them out of tho country, so that lie himself may beuefit
by tho trado of tho place.
Thoso of tho Naccra who camo from Quttur say that a kossid of tho Nneem
who has como to tlioir Chief, Rashid bin Jubar, brought a message to tho
effect that tho Boni Ilajir who aro at iJonli, on hearing tjint Rashid had gone
with 80 of tho Nabom to Bnhrciu, they were pleased and happy, aihl that he
should thoroforo loso no timo in returning to Quttur. Rashid is now prepar
ing to loavo Bahrein with his following. Sheikh Klialid, the brother of Shoikh
All, who proposed going to Quttur to livo among the Naccm, has given up this
intention.
Translated purport of a letter from Sheikh Esau bin Am, Chief of Bahroiu, to Resident,
Persian Gulf, dated 10th ltnjub 1201=23rd August 187*1*.
I iiave received your letter of 0th instant. You had asked for nows of
theso parts, and I now communicato that I and others constantly rcccivo letters
and vorbnl communications from pcoplo arriving from Quttur, all making
manifest that Hamad bin Abdullah and 400 of the Boni Hajir havo collected
near Jassem bin 8ani in tho Doali of Quttur, and that their intention is to come
on Bahrein. If one boat be obtained by them, it is easy lor them to seize other
boats at soa. Somo timo ago they hired a boat belonging to- Oman, but the
Nakoda received warning not to let his boat to.them, and ho kept aloof. They
aro ougnged in endeavouring to obtain a boat. Somo of them aro in the Khor
Shaj'oyj. Whon tho Government ship camo hero and I met Captain Guthrio and
gavo him this intolligcnco, wo camo to the conclusion that it would bo good if
tho vcssol wont to Biddah and those parts in view to intimidating the cnomy.
I sont my brothor, Sheikh Ahmed, with him. Whon they arrived at Biddah nud
remained ono day and night Micro no one from the country wcut on hoard ship,
and thoy asked my brother. Sheikh Ahmed, to go on shore, but ho did not
consont. Tho ship thon returned to Bahrein in safety. No doubt tho Captain
will inform you what lie heard from tho bunyabs rcsidiug at Quttur. Sheikh
Ahmed sends Balaams.
