Dear Recruiting Team:
I recently came across the Assistant Director of Finance announcement for the City of San Jose. As
an experienced project manager with a strong background in financial management, I believe my
skills closely align to your needs. Furthermore, my experiences as the Director of Financial Systems
Integration at the U.S. Department of the Treasury will benefit the city, as the Finance Department
considers replacing its legacy financial management system.
My confidence and comfort with technology, as well as with budget and accounting information will
further contribute to the Department’s ability to meet its objectives. As a Certified Government
Financial Manager (CGFM), I have spent my career growing in the financial management and
reporting environment. In coordinating closely with our Chief Information Officer teams, I traverse
easily between business and technology. As a close strategy advisor to the Deputy CFO at the U.S.
Department of the Treasury, I am confident that I will also be able to provide a clear vision and
direction for the five-divisions of the Finance Department.
As a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), I am very familiar with traditional and agile
approaches to executing projects from initiation to closeout. In executing my projects, I routinely
brief C-suite executives and balance demands from multiple stakeholders. I take pride in planning,
building consensus, and executing on requirements.
I am keenly interested in taking the leap to municipal government and returning to the Bay Area,
while showcasing my experiences at the state and federal level. Attached to my profile you will find
my résumé. I look forward to discussing with you how my talents would be a good fit for this role.
Sincerely,
Sunny Singh
