General Questions
1. Why are you interested in the ADF opportunity with the City of San Jose? Tell me a bit about what you
know about the City.
Is looking into something a little more challenging. San Jose is a place that I am really well known I was
working in the San Jose in the field offices I spent a lot of time living in San Jose for many years. San Jose has
always been my idea of a city that I would like to be part of. I like the Silicon Valley there is so much
possibility for the cities.
2.Please describe your most recent position and daytoday responsibilities.
Day to day is looking at the revenue streams and also forecasting what would be the areas that we can
develop further, and also enhance in that sense in how we can be a little more efficient. I like to look at the
balance of benefitting both the city and the public. May day to day is looking into how my staff is doing,
making sure they have the ropes and locks and everything, look into what we can discuss there is feedback
from the staff on the focus. My day goes from beginning to end things needed ontop of the list of things I
have carried over from the next day. Usually I go in and start things from the top of my list you never go,
3. How many employees do you supervise? Who do you report to?
Staff support, and a specialist. Currently supervising three and in the process of hiring three more. In previous
position was supervising about ten people in the crew.
Report to the Treasury manager.
Has been with the City of Berkeley since June of 2019 why are you looking to leave?
Prior to the City I was working at the State. I've realized I want something that has a larger scope the City of
San Jose looks to be more challenging and has more potential for growth. I think there are limitations what
contributes to growth. I like to be a little more engaging in the accomplishments.
Was with the Board of Equalization and California Department of tax Why did you leave?
I had been there for so long and I wanted to look outside the box. As I mentioned earlier I like to be
challenged I like to do something different. With the agency there is the limit of how much I can be creative
and expand my knowledge within the limitation that's why I tried to go outside of the State agency. That's
what I had. That's one of the reasons the City was not as I expected.
Finance Questions
4. Please describe the ways in which you determine whether your organization is operating efficiently and
effectively.
If staff members can actually perform their duties without too much direction. If they are asking questions that
means there is not enough instruction in place. There has to be a consistent way to perform the same duty.
