PROFILE OF SPEAKERS

Mr. Pankaj Batra did his B. Tech in Electrical Engineering, Diploma in
Systems Management, Diploma in Financial Management and Diploma

in Public Speaking. He is currently Project Director, USAID’s SARI/EI
program being implemented by IRADe, a reputed think tank in Asia,
dealing in all aspects of promoting cross border trading in energy in

South Asia. He was earlier Chairperson and CEO of the Central
Electricity Authority (CEA), Government of India, responsible for overall
development of the Indian power system. He was also the Member
(Planning) of CEA.
He was also responsible for operation and maintenance of Power

House, Switchyard and Dam in Chukha Hydro Power Corporation in
Bhutan and later for the transmission and distribution system of
Bhutan. He has worked as Chief (Engineering) in Central Electricity

Regulatory Commission, formulating various Regulations.
He is presently the Chairperson of Working Group 4 on “Policy,
Regulation and Business Models” in the India Smart Grid Forum;
Chairperson of the BIS Committee ;Chairperson of the LITD 10
Sectional Committee of BIS on ‘Power System Control and Associated

Communications’.

Mr. Arup Sarkar is a member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of
India. Mr. Sarkar has joined Damodar Valley Corporation as Member
(Finance) in Aug ’21. His career has spanned over three decades in

esteemed infrastructure companies like Steel Authority Of India
Limited and NTPC-SAIL Power Company Limited, both at Corporate and
Unit level.

As a thoroughbred professional, his area of expertise includes
Direct & Indirect Taxation, Commercial & Regulatory Matters,
Investment Management, Budget & Budgetary Control,

Concurrence, IndAS Accounting etc.
Mr. Sarkar spearheaded the team credited with various system

implementation work, be it oracle in the later nineties or SAP
implementation.
Further, he was in the frontline during GST and IndAS

implementation.
Shri. Sarkar is an avid speaker, who has organised and delivered

lectures in various training programs in prestigious institutes.
