Nurse & PA Recruitment and Retention Annual Report FY23 53
TO ATTRACT THE BEST, YOU HAVE TO BE THE BEST.
As with all healthcare organizations, Nursing at Michigan is challenged with recovering from the
upheavals wrought by COVID-19. Our RECRUITMENT effort will remain essential, but RETENTION is
imperative to maintain a stable nursing workforce.
Both require equal focus.
Simply increasing the supply of nurses will not solve the issues that ultimately drive them out the door.
Yes, appropriate staffing is essential for best patient outcomes and supports safety in practice, but
other workplace factors are often in play.

professional growth opportunities, psychological safety, teamwork, and a supportive work culture
where they feel valued.
FY 24 will bring its own challenges, but we are positioned to excel!
