Common Error 7.3  Does the adjective clause have a subject pronoun?

           These sentences are missing the subject pronoun. Write the correct subject pronoun in
           the correct location. Choose from the box below.

             1. Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani girl was shot on her way home from school, received
              the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014.
             2. The dot-com bubble (1997–2000) refers to a period of time many new Internet
              companies opened up and succeeded.

             3. Tex-Mex food is a type of food combines Mexican and American ingredients.

             4. Vegans are vegetarians do not eat eggs or any dairy products.



           Common Error 7.4  Is there an extra object pronoun?

            The research that the scientists did it was not used.

            RemembeR: Do not add object pronouns (me, you, him, her, it, us, or them) to adjective clauses.

           These sentences all have an extra object pronoun. Cross out the extra object pronoun.
             1. The word blue can mean a color or it can mean unhappy, but the meaning that
              native-speaking children learn it first is a color.

             2. Many people are concerned about the amount of food that restaurants and
              supermarkets discard it.

             3. The chemicals that companies put them into cleaning products and cosmetics to
              make them smell better can cause some people to have health problems.
             4. New research supports the theory, which no one has been able to prove it so far,
              that brain size relative to body size indicates something about intelligence.
