previous sentence.
9. Sentence 11 defines traditional methods. Combine sentences 10 and 11 by
changing sentence 10 into an essential adjective clause. To do this you will need to
delete Traditional methods.
10. Start sentence 12 with In contrast and a comma. Combine sentences 12 and 13 by
making sentence 13 into a nonessential adjective clause.
ACTIVITY 12 Original Writing
On a separate sheet of paper, write a definition paragraph (at least six sentences).
Explain what the term means. Then give facts, details, and examples. Use at least one
example of an essential adjective clause and one example of a nonessential adjective
clause.
Here are some examples of how to begin.
• House music is a type of electronic music that is especially good for dancing.
• Sailboarding is a water sport that is easy to learn.
• Green gardeners are gardeners who have learned environmental gardening
techniques.
