Saving Wildlife
1 In the process of trying to save endangered species, many wildlife organizations

turn to governments, businesses, and local communities for help. The first, and perhaps

most important, step in saving plants and animals is to have as wide-reaching an impact
as possible. Because governments—national, regional, and local—can help the effort by
3
passing laws for protect the wildlife and their habitats, organizations turn to them first.

4 Another step organizations can take is to contact businesses, both large and small.
5 For example, businesses can help endangered species by landscaping with native plants

in their business parks. Finally, a third step organizations can take is to work within
7
their local communities. By sponsoring fairs and educational events, local communities
8
help increase awareness of the need to protect native species. It is important to educate
people about the wildlife in their community and to offer ways to protect the animals’
9
habitat. Work together is key if these animals are going to survive.
