known for creating Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs,
explains this concept well. He showed five categories
of physical needs that all humans need to live a
fulfilled life. Here is the list of Needs in order of
importance.
1. Physiological Needs: food, water, warmth,
rest
2. Safety Needs: security, safety
3. Love and Belongingness Needs: intimate
relationships, friends
4. Esteem Needs: prestige and feeling of
accomplishment
5. Self-Actualization: achieving one’s
potential, including creative activities
Can you see why I am solving the lunch debt
problem? If there is a lack of food (physiological
needs), health (safety and security), family (love and
belonging), and confidence (self-esteem), how can
you expect a child to learn (self- actualization)?
