The principal source of all criminal behavior is
self-preservation, accompanied by a mentality of
scarcity (that there will never be enough to go
around). I believe this is because our culture has
embraced false hope on how to live life.
Accumulation and keeping up with the Jones has
been confused for self- preservation. When there is
a promotion of self-preservation and scarcity as the
narrative of life, people will do things they would
never do.
God gave Adam access, not ownership. Genesis
2:16–17 says, “And the LORD God commanded
the man, saying, ‘Of every tree of the garden you
may freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of
good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day
that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.’
Question: If God gave Adam access to the whole
garden, why did Adam focus his attention on
something God said not to eat? How did Satan
convince Eve, and then Eve convinced Adam to do
what God said not to do? The answer is self-
preservation and scarcity.
