MAGNUM BOTTLES
A friend always used to say, “A magnum bottle of wine is the perfect size for two people if one of them isn’t drinking.” While that may be a bit of an
exaggeration, it’s true that magnum bottles are excellent choices for group imbibing. As the holiday season is full of group dinners, parties, and get-
togethers, it’s the perfect time to dive into the wonderful world of wine magnums.
Though it seems like a leap to upgrade from the standard 750-milliliter bottle to a full magnum, it really isn’t. At 1.5 liters, a magnum is the equivalent
of two standard wine bottles. Given that each standard bottle contains five glasses of wine, it isn’t extravagant to suggest a bottle for a table of four
dinner guests – that only works out to two and a half glasses of wine per person. Up to 10 guests can get a healthy glass of wine from a magnum bottle.

#2.MW NV Billecart-Salmon Brut Reserve Mareuil-sur-Aÿ
#2.MW NV Dosnon Recolte Blanc de Noirs Avirey-Lingey
The Maison Dosnon is located in Avirey-Lingey, in the heart of an unique terroir of Champagne called La Côte des Bar. Found in the southern part of
the Champagne region, the vineyards are situated on rolling hills of hard limestone soils like Chablis. Davy Dosnon, native of Avirey-Lingey, wanted to
create a modern and ecologically sustainable Maison de Champagne, endeavouring to achieve excellence and to honour and celebrate the diversity and
quality of their terroir. The terroir, dominated by clayey-limestone soils, inspires particularly rich aromas and flavours in the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay,
which acquire an exceptional finesse and fruitiness as they age.
“Redcurrant, orange zest, jasmine and a hint of dusty minerals on the seductively perfumed nose. Juicy, vibrant and taut, offering powerful, spice- and
mineral-accented flavours of red berries and candied orange peel. Silky and expansive on a finish resounding with orange and mineral notes.’’ Josh Raynolds

#2.MW 2018 Les Heritiers du Comte Lafon Vire-Clesse / Chardonnay Burgundy, France
Dominique Lafon was the first Côte d’Or superstar to expand his holdings into the Mâconnais followed by Domaine Leflaive. They have breathed new
life and prestige into this cooperative dominated region. Les Héritieres du Comte Lafon produces wines ranging from generic Mâcon up to four single-
vineyard wines. With the same biodynamic techniques as used in his Meursault domaine, Lafon has crafted a range of delicious wines that show the
regions true potential.
“An overtly ripe yet fresh and bright nose of yellow orchard fruit that includes peach, apricot and mango as well as hints of the exotic. The ripeness carries over
to the generous, seductive and opulent medium-bodied flavors that possess excellent intensity on the vibrant, balanced, palate staining and long finish. Like
all of these wines, there is not knockout depth but the style and verve are lovely.” Allen Meadows
